R.E.D. 2025
What remains hidden—not just through the force of authority or an act of censorship, but through the quiet reinforcement of our own curated reality?
Detail 2025
R.E.D. is a sculptural work constructed from salvaged neon letters. Coated in black paint, a mask is selectively taken away to uncover messages about removal, erasure, and disappearance.
This material act of (un)redaction mirrors the purging of language while the messages revealed suggest the subtle omissions shaping our hopes and thoughts yet to be.
As much as the paint conceals, it simultaneously reveals, exposing words once deemed unfit for viewing. The glowing red text serves both as a warning and a remnant, reflecting on the mechanics of censorship. What begins with formal records and media extends to our inner voices, personal projections, and the way information can be reinforced or withheld by the systems we engage with.
What we are allowed to read, hear and know is shaped as much by deliberate omission as by the choices we make in curating our own understanding.
